goodness, technology is at our disposal and there are so many ways to communicate.
Yes, you can send a simple “How are you?” text or email, they go a long way,
but what other options are there?
Keep Treatment Appointments In Your Diary
Instead of physically carrying out the treatment, why not have a virtual meeting? With FaceTime, Skype or Zoom you have excellent ways to still see each other. Use the scheduled treatment time to check in on them? If the appointment was for a facial, perform an in-depth thorough consultation. If it was for waxing, discuss things your client can do to effectively to remove hair in the interim. For example; tips on how to tweeze the eyebrows, or how to avoid ingrowing hair on the bikini line.
Consider Hosting Classes
Zoom is an
amazing cloud-based platform that allows video conferencing and virtual
meetings. Best of all, it’s free and takes only seconds to download and set up.
Once you’re set up, to can invite your clients to join a meeting.
Many of us now
have extra time on our hands and, let’s face it, a lot of us will spend it
watching YouTube makeup tutorials that we are NEVER going to be able to successfully
follow. Or worse, scrolling endlessly through social media.
Anyhow, why not pre-arrange a Zoom appointment with a few of your facial clients and talk them through an individual skincare regime. Ask them to sit with their laptop or their phone, and a mirror in front of them with a bare face with all their skincare products lined up. You can then guide them through performing a facial routine at home, to maintain good skincare habits and achieve the best results possible. You could even hold a facial muscle fitness class!
Use Social Media
If you are not yet on Facebook or Instagram (firstly why not?), now is the perfect time to set it up. As most of you will use at least one of these platforms, take this time to create content for the next few months and get familiar with tools such as Hootsuite to plan your content release. Don’t forget engagement is key, talk to your customers/followers, offer advice, answer questions, and keep that communication going.
Give Live Sessions a Go
A great way to use social media is to hold live demonstrations and Q & A sessions. It can seem really daunting, but once you have done one, they get easier and you’ll see the benefit. Consider holding one a day or once a week. It is important to be consistent with the time sessions are offered and hold them regularly. That way, your clients know when to log in to see you. You could use the time to talk about the products and services you offer in the salon. You could open the floor to clients to ask about their skincare concerns or demonstrate how to perform an at-home care treatment such as a facial or how to remove gel polish effectively. The more you talk to your clients, the more you’ll learn about their worries and look at providing some solutions.
